Speculative Science is any scientific research that attempts to imagine, anticipate, or intervene on the distant future. It bears a strong resemblance to speculative fiction and futurism, but can be distinguished in its specific place within scientific literature. Examples include: geo-engineering, asteroid monitoring/redirection, space colonization, artificial intelligence.
