Holes are the anti-bodies that resonate with potential and promise in a finite world that is extensively mapped, digitized, data-mined, seen from above and from outside. Holes make space and some offer refuge. In a time of technologized war, real-time surveillance and satellite vision, bunkers in their simplest articulation as earth holes once again become protective voids. The investigation of holes is multidisciplinary. Holes have terraforming, philosophical, theoretical, political, feminist, legal, medical, artistic, architectonic, geographical, geometrical, technological, psychological and material qualities.

Visiting the Canadian Malartic Goldmine

"The difference between my 2, 3 hour-visit and life of those people who are constantly exposed to the mine’s activities, needless to say, is incomparable. Apparently, there are a number of measures implemented to reduce noise as well as dust generated from the mine’ daily operations. Still, I cannot help but questioning the extent to which the company is committed not only to the environment but also to the local community."
